Guest Teachers & Therapists
Melinda Sutcliffe - Vinyasa Flow & Yin Yoga
Melinda began her personal yoga journey in 1995 and has been teaching since 2014. She has worked with private clientele, corporate groups, and taught at a number of studios whilst living abroad. She certified in Canada with Emerson Lim of Karma Teachers, assisted with teacher training as faculty, and studied with Rodney and Colleen Yee (Iyengar), Bernie Clark (Yin), Felicia Pavlovic (Yoga Therapy Toronto), amongst others. Trained in Vinyasa (flow), Yin, and Restorative yoga, she is a level 1/350 RYT. Melinda is interested in the science of yoga, and its therapeutic use as a tool for renewing and rebalancing ourselves. Melinda believes yoga is a personal journey of acceptance, learning to listen to our bodies and learning to be at peace with who and what we are. “When I teach, I aim to create a safe environment so each person can immerse themselves in what they need - be it calm, strength, or flexibility. It is about helping others find their own expression, whatever that means to them.”
She regularly teaches at Bowral Yoga Studio, maintains private clients, including a local school, and can be seen as a guest instructor at other studios across the Southern Highlands.
Lisa Grimshaw - Hatha Yoga
Lisa has been practicing yoga for over 20 years, exploring different styles and teaching in that time, gaining her teaching qualification in 2015 after completing her training with Kate Pell. She teaches a Hatha style of yoga, encouraging students to connect with their breath to fully experience the subtleties of yoga asana. Lisa is interested in the power of the mind to influence physical health, and the use of meditation and pranayama to help quieten the mind and allow the body to heal. She believes that connecting with the body helps to focus attention inwards, allowing the mind to become still and the deeper consciousness to emerge. “By drawing attention to the state of the physical body, the breath, and the mind at any given point in time, we can work towards peace, tranquility and acceptance.”

Celia has been teaching yoga for over 20 years, Kundalini specifically for the past 10 years. Studying with world-renowned trainers such as Gurmukh Kaur Khalsa in India and New York, Celia has been inspired to share these teachings in Australia. During her first pregnancy Celia expanded her training with Tarn Tarn K.Khalsa to specialise in the Kundalini yoga prenatal teachings called Conscious Pregnancy. Celia teaches regular Kundalini group classes in Mittagong and works privately with her pregnant clients, also offering weekly acupuncture to support their minds and bodies to prepare for natural birth. Kundalini yoga is a ‘house-holders’ yoga which appeals to Celia. Yoga is not just about exercising on your mat. The consciousness that arises out of practising Kundalini really infiltrates daily life. You don’t need to go into retreat to experience profound stillness. The power of this yoga brings stillness of the mind and renewed energy in the body in a very efficient way. “The real gift of human life is the capacity to confront and experience the self in relationship to the Unknown Infinity of our Self” (Yogi Bhajan).
I have been teaching yoga in the Southern Highlands and Wollondilly Shire since 2004. Holding a Dru Yoga Teacher Diploma, I am also a qualified Yoga Therapy practitioner. I focus on meeting the individual needs of my students, working to integrate body awareness into all postures while maintaining a flow of movement to provide flexibility and balance. I am passionate about making yoga available to everyone regardless of physical fitness, and helping people find a sense of calm and wellbeing through the gentle physical movements of yoga. In addition to my regular classes at Bowral Yoga Space and Thirlmere Yoga Space, I provide yoga programs and workshops to Government departments, corporations, health services groups, youth service groups and individuals. Julie Jarvis - Hatha & Yin Yoga
Hi my name is Julie and I have been teaching yoga for roughly 15 months. I began my yoga journey so as to feel more relaxed as at the time I had been working in child protection and was experiencing anxiety. Yoga opened up a whole new world for me and allowed me to find out more about myself. Yoga enabled me to feel at peace, improve on my concentration, anxiety, health and wellbeing. I decided to complete my Teacher Training Level 1 so as to support and show others the real befits yoga can bring into their lives. I began my training with the lovely Kate Pell in Bowral and completed my training in December of 2015. I developed skills in different yoga styles including: Hatha yoga, Restorative, Vinyasa flow, Anatomy, Yin, meditation, Kirtan and Yoga Nidra. After completing the course I developed my small business and set out to help inspire others to see yoga as I had.
